Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade is a science fiction third-person shooter that pits players against each other on a brutal persistent world. Based on Games Workshop’s tabletop game of the same name, players will tear each other apart on the planet of Arkhona. Four playable races, or factions, with their own variety of classes will be available, featuring Orks, Space Marines, Eldar, and Chaos Space Marines. Additional Warhammer 40,000 races are planned for future release, including the Dark Eldar and Tau.
As part of a faction players will receive objective missions from High Command—lead by chosen players—and always be matched up against an opposing faction in a battle for control. Councils made up of players will lead their faction’s strategic approach, determining what territories to attack and what continents to secure. While Strike Force leaders will lead their units on the battlefield. The Tyranid swarm will also reel their heads as endless hordes of NPC’s to survive in cooperative gameplay.
There are no levels in the game but players will progress by unlocking a wider variety of available weapons and skills to dominate the battlefield. Utilize various vehicles to quickly cross terrain, or gun down opponents with the overwhelming might of a turret. Rip through enemies not just with rifle but use melee weapons such as chainsaws and power-fists to decimate foes.
Select one of four factions of the 41st millennium and fight for control of a persistent world at war. As you fight your way across the planet, claim territory in massive battles and earn the right to customize and improve your characters in a deep progression system from Warhammer 40,000 lore
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is no word for ‘please’. And don’t even get me started on the state of their property law! Epitomising the worst of all this rudeness is Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, a third-person shooter MMO about those rude futuremen duffing each other up for control of a planet in an endless war. A visit to the Land Registry would clear these boundaries right up, you guys – no need to murder each other for territory. Oh, spaceboys will be spaceboys! And Eternal Crusade is now due to launch on September 23rd.
So, Eternal Crusade! It’s a bit like PlanetSide in that different factions – Space Marines, Chaos, and Eldar (with Orks to come) – are scrapping for control of territory. As I understand it, it’s less PlanetSide open-world shenanigans than it is Battlefield with boundary changes as victory rewards. Along with PvP factionmurders, it has PvE missions and all.
